I was was hijacking a thread about the new Plustek 120, so thought I'd better start a new thread.
I think my scanner has the banding issue. What do you think? I quickly taught myself Silverfast and ran these off. Do you think I'm overreacting? Once you see something it's easy to start seeing it everywhere. Based on these scans, would you risk sending off your scanner for a check and possible repair costing £300+ ?
I'm kind of thinking I can live with it, especially as I plan on mainly B+W in the future and haven't noticed the issue there.
There's also the selling on consideration

I do not see any banding in these images. I would turn off all sharpening in SilverFast and sharpen only as necessary once in Lightroom, Photoshop, or whatever program you use. If anything is wrong with these images, it's most likely the sharpening.

Nice to know I'm not the only one seeing no banding in your photos. I had some doubts about my eyes

If you click on the Shepherd's Cross to see the larger version in Flickr, do you see it in the top right hand corner and down the right edge? Same for Tracey standing in front of the carved rock?
I never thought to switch off sharpening. I think I did see a sharpening section in Silverfast. I'll bare that in mind. #rookiemistake

I see what you mean about sharpening, particularly the first one. I was so busy looking for discolouration and banding, I didn't notice the sharpening artefacts.

Ok I see it now. Are you sure they arent marks on the actual film?
I would then rescan w the sharpening off and see if you still get them.
