Very confused
I'd rather have them separate, because I have some inteerest in the M9 (or will have when the price comes down, depending on what else becomes available by then) but I have absolutely zero interest in the M8s ... I know they can make good pictures, but the IR and other issues have put me off for good.

This begs the question: should the M3 DS, M3 SS, M2 with timer, M2 without timer, M2 with round release button, M4, M4-2, M4P, M5 with three lugs, M5 with two lugs, M6, M6 TTL, M6 with 0.85 viewfinder, M7, MP, and each LHSA flavours get their own forum?

i'd suggest we have one drf section but would not want to 'taint' the rd1...

Misunderstood the question... thought you meant entirelyseparate forum for M8 and M9, as in different web address.

Separate. Full frame camera deserves separate forum![]()
Doesn't this place the M9 in the same category as all film M's?
Seriously though, in my opinion having one forum for Digital Rangefinders is enough.

Since there's only 3 dRF that might be okay for now. But if we combine it we will have to split them in the future when there's like 40 different DRF models!
(one can only hope!)

What about the 'M9 Reported Problems' sub-forum?

No Leica CL Forum?
We'd need a separate Leica CLE forum, too.

No Leica CL Forum?
Actually the CL and CLE do have individual forums already.
Maybe we should megre them back in to M forum?

I think that the CL and CLE are different enough from the other analogue Leica M's (including the M5) to deserve a separate sub-forum.

I think we should have one for Leica, one for RD1 and one for Zeiss Digital Rangefinder when it is released.

SAME FOR ME
Rename the forum "Leica M8 / 8.2" to "Leica Digital RF". Keep them together. We don't have forums for other individual Ms as well, and I leice it that wayThanks for asking.
Agree with the sentiments to combine, rename to Leica Digital RF. There is much to share within the M8, 8.2, 9 grouping. Within such a forum there will certainly be threads discussing M8 variants and others discussing the M9 and its successors.

If you click here "http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/index.php" you get a list of forums. They could all be combined as well. For the same reason that this would not be a good idea, the M8 and M9 (and later on, M10...) forums should not be combined.
I come here with a limited amount of time. I'd rather not have to wade through a lot of discussions that don't apply to my camera (yet) just to find those that do apply.
For a while, I was using this site, and also http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/ for information on my M8. Nowadays, I tend to go there much more often, as the M9 stuff has its own home. There's a forum for each Leica camera, and a separate forum for image processing software. I like that arrangement more than the way others do things.
