I am thinking its time for a gathering of the tribe for a Saturday afternoon of some beer drinking comparing equipment and photos. Anyone game? It won't be as tropical as the Summer gathering in Kensington Market. Since everyone is coming from all over how about the Rebel House on Yonge St near the Rosedale Subway station? The beer and food are really good at this establishment.

Ya, but does it have skylights? :)

Got to check the calendar, and with the social coordinator, mainly with the social coordinator.

Hey, when is that Thornhill camera fleamarket/show? You guys from the city can come up to the northcountry.

I think I can make that weekend Bill...

I don't see why not :)

And I would concur with Frank's suggestion - skylight or big big big windows for nice available light :) (that is, unless I try doing that wacky tri-x 12,800 asa stuff) :D

Cheers
Dave

That weekend probably works and I'm always game to try a new pub. Frank, is there a way to get to the frozen north of Thornhill via TTC? Is there an LRD connection or something (light-rail dogsled)?

Gene

Take the Yonge Line to the end, and then grab the YRT 1B (I think, B is for Bayview). That should take you right to the Thornhill Community Centre. You'll have to pay twice unless you have one of those weekly transit passes.

Thanks Kin!

Ok since I go to this place on a regular basis. I will tell you up front the bar it self is dark, however the patio in back has tons of light. As for the Camera Show I'll have to check with my techie as he has his ear to the ground on these things. So for now the weekend of the 10th we have a meeting planned details to be firmed up.

Hi Everyone,
I did a google search and yes there is a camera show at the Thornhill Community Centre Sunday the 11th, We could meet up there at 10 am and then after doing our fiscal damage head down to the Rebel House for lunch/beer. Sound like a plan for the gathering. Ideas, thoughts, obections?

Bill

Bill, since we're up there already, perhaps the meeting could take place up near there as well. It would save me some travelling and not add any travelling to the city guys.

The only drawback to this plan is if there were some southern folks who want to skip the camera show and just meet in the afternoon. The show is a significant event for gearheads like me.

Depends on where/when the lunch thing is - 10 am is a bit early for me on a Sunday :D
(plus I'm usually in church at that time repenting ;) )

Dave

Hmm, makes way more sense. Any suggestions for a pub in the neighbourhood? I don't think any of us southern boys would miss a show full of gear:) Even if it is near the tree line (Steeles Ave)

Dave, all the good stuff will be gone.

There are trees that far north? I only recently heard the city extended beyond Lawrence ...

I'd like to see the show, but I'll be coming by transit. If we could carpool to a local pub and someone could drop me (us?) off at a transit stop for the trip back, that would work for me.

Gene

For those of us unlikely to make it to Thornhill (phobia of bears), if someone could give a guesstimation of when the pub meeting will commence, that'd make it easier for me to make it.

Cheers,

Matt

I'm out in the east end (bottom little corner of North York) and will be driving as well.

I'll see if I can make it at that *yawn* early time of day .... when I should either be running or repenting ;)

Cheers

I can do it. I just need to know where and when. (But as its my wife's birthday weekend, I may not be able to stay long.)
