Ah, might mention too that my first pic far above of the wrecked pickup just abandoned at the side of the road was shot on the NW part of West Maui at Napili. I don't understand why the highway dept allows that, but it's not uncommon.

Steve,
That shot reminded me of Sequim too. Here's one from Dungeness state park there.
I wish it didn't take minutes to see a photo and then come back to the thread (I hate thumbnails).

I really love it up in the Sequim area. Of course it has nothing to do with the oysters, crab, salmon and gooey-duck clams.
We used to visit Vickies grandad and have a barbque for him, all the seafood on the grill. Wow, I miss that. Went to a park up on the Dungeness River and had a picnic, went for a hike, all lush and green, with a soft haziy light.

Island life.
Island life.
Doug,
I hope to visit Hawii this summer. I'm not sure I could live on and Island again, I used to live in the Bahamas, it's very beautiful, but you can only ride around in circles so long before you get bored. In the Western US, there is such a great variety in climates and terrains, it's hard to get bored. If you don't like what you're seeing, go 100 miles in any direction and it's different.

You're right, Steve, the mainland has a richness of variety missing in the islands. I was thinking only of the weather there: ideal for biking; even the rain is light and warm! And a good way to get around, as speeds are modest, fuel outrageously expensive, narrow roads, and difficult parking.
