I recently picked up a canon RF 85/2, with case, caps and finder. Just a few days ago I found a hood for the 135/3.5 with 48mm-series VII adapter ring, (and rear cap) that fits on the 85 and in the case. I would like to use a hood for this lens if I could, though so far it seems to do just fine, and I know that canon made one for this adapter ring for the 85.

Do you think these hoods are interchangeable, or will it vignette? The pictures I've seen of the 85 hood look very similar to the 135. Does anyone here have both?

I suppose I could just waste a roll of film finding out, but I'd rather not.

The 135mm hood is only 3mm deeper than the 85/2 hood. Since telephoto lens hoods are often way shorter than they can be without vignetting, you probably can get away with it.

But, keep an eye out for the correct hood, it may store reversed on the lens a bit better. Also, keep an eye out for the 135/3.5 lens, it's plenty sharp, if heavy.
