I'm currently looking for a 90mm finder to go with my IIIf/90mm Elmar combo. The Russian Turret I've been using for a while just isn't cutting it as far as parallax adjustment goes, and due to the fact most cameras viewfinders have been designed for are taller than the Barnacks, I figure it'd be better to stay with Leica's own offerings for it.

Now, I was going to go for the obvious SGVOO. But the SEROO seems really tempting; I like the collapsibility of it and its diminutive nature. But what's it like to use in real life? There doesn't seem to be much mention of it around the internet, so any experiences would be appreciated.

I'm not overly concerned with "brightness" etc., but if the two upright sections of the SEROO aren't particularly stable, this might be somewhat of a problem.

I should also add that I need glasses to see at any distance further than a foot or so, so part of my leaning towards the SGVOO is that it might be less prone to trashing my specs. I am sick of having to pad the backs of viewfinders and the like.

Why wouldn't you buy the Voigtlander 90 viewfinder? I think it can still be bought at Camera Quest though it has been discontinued. I can certainly recommend it as a top notch product. I use it regularly with my Apo-Lanthar 90/3.5.

I want to ensure as much as possible that the parallax correction marks are correct for the IIIf I'll be using it on.

I've been a happy SGVOO user for years.

I did once try out a SEROO but wasn't impressed by it in comparison.

It seemed fragile and fiddly and likely to become damaged easily, I thought, as well as being more of a collector's item and hence overpriced.

The SGVOO is a neater and more effective viewfinder, IMHO.

I find changing viewfinders such a pain though one for wide angle lenses is understandable. When I do have a 90mm on, I still use the peep hole but visually guess the image size. Trust me, it works! All one has to do is 'train' your eye. I just 'knock' off a quarter each side of the view and go from there. Simples! It also means that rocking my eye from the focusing hole to the framing device is simplified. No, I'm not a tight fisted old so and so not to get a viewfinder!
