Servicing My Leica M6

Another vote for CRR Luton. Peter Grisalfi is probably the best Leica technician in the UK. He looks after the Queen's Leicas. Just be aware that he's always very busy and expect a 3 month wait.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it." The best thing you can do with an M Leica is use it. They can be used for decades without "servicing".

I concur,

My M4-2 has been having a hazy finder and one tooth of the rewind fork broken for a year or so now and still performs beautifully.

Still not contemplating a CLA yet.

Hermann

Can some of you guys who have already have your Ms CLA´ed, tell us the basic price of the procedure? With that I mean the price for the work done when taking the camera apart, inspecting, lubricating and assembling it, and disregarding prices for parts that needed to be replaced, for instance.

Depends who does the work, how much work is really necessary (extent of the work) etc. Whether any worn out parts are changed or not, etc.

Some of it is really a judgement call on the part of the CLAer. "This part shows signs of wear, sure, but it'll most likely be just fine for another thirty years" vs. "As long as we have the camera apart anyway we may as well just go ahead and replace the tension gizmo."
