Hi,

Can anyone recommend a place to service Nikkor RF lenses? I use them on my M8 and would like to have the focusing spot on. What are the charges like for a CLA?

Try DAG - www.dagcamera.com

He is a bit backlogged, but he is also a fully qualified precision mechanic, trained by Leitz Wetzlar, and loves a challenge.

And he knows Leica's inside out and has done many projects like what you are asking.

Problem is, the guys who specialize in the Nikkor lenses are perhaps not into the M8. You can get a great CLA, but as for re-shimming to correct focus on the M8? Well, best of luck with that.

Ken Ruth has a great reputation for working on Nikon RF stuff. He is backlogged (read: slow) - he's had my Nikon S and 50/1.4 for nearly as long as Don had hacker's Canon 50/0.95 - but he responds to emails and is always available by phone. Nice guy, too.

Pete Smith (nikonsmith@aol.com) also comes highly recommended. Youxin Ye might also be willing to take a whack at it.

I wanted to be sure that there are technicians who specialize in Nikkor. Ken Ruth converted another Canon 50mm f0.95 because I could not wait for Don to return the lens to me. I got a turnaround of 2 weeks. The conversion is very nice, but Ken did not have the M8 (and I did not send my camera), and it meant that it cannot mount the camera but works on film cameras. I liked Ken's communication and he is very prompt. Don has been very communicative to me after the Canon episode and I have sent another lens to him which he acknolwedged yesterday. If all goes well, perhaps another trip to DAG then for more lenses.

In all, both Ken's and Don's work are superb:
