I have been inspired by the wealth of information around here to bring my Zorki6 out of retirement. Somebody produced an excellent article detailing the top plate removal, with pictures. I saved it to archive. This was a mistake as I'm not sure it's complete.
Does anybody have the link?
Everything came apart OK. I don't know why I didn't do this in 1964. When I removed an idler gear, I found a mangled washer underneath it. Clearly the main cause of rough winding since the day it was made. I know Zorkis are not so famous for smooth winding and I lived with it for forty years. It is now fixed and lubricated, and it works beautifully. So much for the stories. Perhaps they all have mangled washers.
However, I'm having trouble with re-assembly, getting the wind lever into place, after the top is on.
Does anybody have the link?

I now see that I had the whole thing. FWIW re-assembly is not obvious. The temptation is to assemble the lever, the bearing and the ratchet wheel as one unit, and slide it onto the post.
Don't. Even though it seems right with a test before the cover goes on.
It seems dumb but it is far better to put the ratchet in place, loose on the post, before the top cover goes on! The lever and bearing then slide in between the ratchet and the post. This means the pawl has to be held out from the ratchet with a piece of wire but there is a hole to enable you to do it. When I did that, I got it first time....
