Settings for saving battery life x-t1?

Hey all, i recently snagged an x-t1 in a trade and love the files i'm getting out of it 🙂 however, wow, the batteries only get about 100-120 or so shots before i need to swap them out. I was wondering if any of you know ideal settings for sipping the battery life a bit less 🙂 Thanks! (sorry if this has already been discussed here)

Just use the EVF. Switch the view mode to EVF only.

Hello, have you got it set to continuous focus? It'll use more power if it's hunting all the time also check the settings for fast startup etc as it'll use more power that way too. Have you checked the firmware on the lenses and camera? Finally, are you using a genuine Fujifilm battery? If it's a third party battery or, even a fake Fujifilm battery that could be your problem too. Failing that, it could be the camera is faulty and that may be the reason for its sale. Oh, one other thing comes to mind, are you using the display or EVF to most of the time to compose your shots, do you use the display to check each shot? Using the display all the time, checking the image after each shot, can all add up to excessive battery use plus if you have the brightness setting to high, especially if you are fighting bright sunshine will eat power. What those guys said. Don't use continuous focus (unless you really need it for subjects in motion) and don't use the rear LCD to compose your photos.

Are you using OEM batteries and the Fujifilm charger?

I could get three hours from the X-T1 even when I used the LCD often. This was for interior photography gigs so there was not a lot of AF usage. However I carried five batteries with me (XT-1, battery grip, X-T1 backup body, two spares). During one long gig (3 1/2 hrs) using the wifi remote control app and LCD continuously I used three batteries. So wifi tripled my power consumption.

For non-commercial work I never leave home without a spare fresh battery. I used to carry extra batteries for the D700 but rarely needed one.

Just a thought, do you have the WiFi transfer switched on? If it is, then that will drain away your power. Switch it off when you don't need it and that should make a big difference.

Thanks for the input guys! I don't really use the lcd typically, but, i do use a couple wasabi off-brand batteries. Maybe i should replace them with a couple OEM fuji batteries though? I feel like the one fuji battery i have is about the same battery life wise though. I always use single af...i DO however, use wifi every now and again to send images. When i do use it, it does noticeably affect battery life as well.

my off-brand batts seem to have same or similar life as the OEMs, btw.

Ok, so i took a pic after replacing the battery as a marker to see how many shots i could get from one battery with leaving it on evf eye control only, not reviewing images, and not using the wifi at all...i was able to get 196 🙂 thanks everybody!

I buy cheap batteries off Amazon or Blue Nook, it's always good to have some extras

I use the same setup as this writer. I also get between 600 and 800 shots per battery. AFS or MF only. I turn off between shots. I also use Wasabi batteries.
