Does anyone have information on a "good tutorial" or summary of the settings that you can use for Vuescan specific for colour slides like Velvia 50 or Provia 100.

I have a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED and the latest version of Vuescan.

I also have a copy of a recent book - Scanning Negatives and Slides by Sascha Steinhoff from RockyNook publishing - a good summary of the subject!

A lot of stuff on the net seems to talk about setups for Vuescan with negative film.

Thanks again.

John

Slide film is a lot easier to scan and get good results from than color negatives because the orange base color of neg film has to be removed by the scan software and setting up to get good results is a pain for that.

With slides, I use the IMAGE setting (you can choose color neg, black and white neg, slide film, or image). The SLIDE FILM setting works well too. Try both and see what you like. I use the Landscape or White balance setting most of the time for color settings. I always use the infrared clean, usually at the LIGHT setting unless the film is visibly damaged or has a lot of dirt i cant remove before scanning.
