Keith, i think for a passionate photographer as you are dealing with these negatives is a real exciting adventure! And for us, as viewer is tghe same. A jump back in the time and I'm impressed by the quality of the pictures. Thanks

Hey Keith, I just worked out that the rocky ooutcrop in the background of the second last pic is Castle Hill in Townsville - compare to this old postcard:

Panoramic view of Townsville showing Castle Hill, ca. 1905 by State Library of Queensland, Australia, on Flickr
I knew that it looked familiar! Many of those other shots could conceivably be from around the Townsville area too.

The best camera is one that still works!

Ahh ... now it's clearer. This film was in the wrong canister!
There is a canister marked Sydney Brisbane Townsville ... who knows what's in that?
Thanks Wayne.

Keith,
Just read through the first thread and followed the link here. What an exciting time!
I have a good friend with the last name "Tremaine" whose background is French.
Not sure if it helps, but the "Tremayne" could have changed somewhere along the line. I've forwarded the link to this forum to him.
Have fun scanning!
