Following on from the first roll posted in this thread.

This second roll was a pain in the proverbial ... it looked like it had been dragged through a gravel pit ... lots of repair work in post but it came out OK in the end. It's also been ravaged by some sort of camera problem ... there are lots of overlapping exposures and a lot of images seem to exhibit some sort of light leak. A few of the photos really show this but I've included them anyway as they still have a level of interest that makes them worthwhile IMO.

The film this time is Agfa ... it has a very different look to the Panatomic with a lot more grain and a bit less contrast. The mood for these pics is very different ... not so many people shots but some beautiful compositions and definitely in the US this time ... though maybe not in the first couple of pics? The cannister was marked 'Amerika II' and this time it appears to be mostly correct. The last fourteen shots on the roll were all of Buffalo in some sort of wilderness park I think ... man was I sick of those by the time I'd finished cloning/healing etc! 😛

Once again ... comments and feedback about locations etc very welcome. 🙂

These are great man!!!
I think it is such a privilege that you get to develop film and we get to see them.
Keep it coming.
I particularly like the last few shots with the bisons (???)

I'm thinking this is at the "Century of Progress" (1933-34 Worlds Fair).

Looking north on Michigan Avenue. I *think* that's the Art Institute behind the bus on the right.

This is looking east from a Chicago & NorthWestern train that's either arriving or departing their Chicago station.

Keith, this is the most absorbing thread or thread of threads I have yet encountered in a couple of years of regular attendance. And we're only on roll 2. This is like The Wire. Anyone on RFF not following this thread is certainly missing something great.

A couple of 'out takes' from the roll ... looks like the inside of a bus or similar to me?

Ken is absolutely right, the Merchandise Mart and Michigan Avenue are quite unmistakable, even with all the years that have passed since these were shot.

What a great project this is Keith. Please keep sharing this treasure trove. Wow!!!

Thank you Richard ... I'm certainly enjoying the process and it's keeping me motivated in what will be a fairly lengthy task! 😛

It also serves the purpose of identifying things that are beyond my recognition, Ken Ford's input for example ... I'll be able to tell the owners of these negatives more than they ever thought was possible.

Cheers ... Keith 🙂

I second the motion re: US & Canadian sides of Niagara Falls, that looks pretty unmistakable to me.

A gentle rebuke to Mcary's suggestion of Wyoming ... I would cast my vote in for Banff National Park in Canada. There's a bison plain that exists even to this day off Hwy 1 near Banff, and the dramatic angles of the Rockies in these photos looks very familiar to me.

Eureka! The thrill of discovery! A quick search on the internet revealed that the bison plain in Banff is the very same one in the mystery photo posted above!

A click on this link to the US Forestry Service shows a stock photo on bison taken in Canada -- if you look at the hill in the background, it's exactly the same as in the mystery photo. 🙂

Another piece of the puzzle solved!

Thanks for the work, Keith. It is a treat.
Does anyone have the copyrights for an article or similar?

There are more light streaks in this roll than in the first roll.
What it also shows to me is the fact that in old rolls of film, having images of people conveys [to me] a stronger message than not having people present.

Ahh .. there was a word on the canister that I couldn't quite read ... I now realise it was 'Banff!'

Definitely ... a eureka moment!

Thanks for your efforts with that. 🙂

Second picture looks like it could be a truncated "Canada Steamship Lines" (CSL), and I, too, thought it looked like Niagara Falls. CSL operated on the rivers.

Thanks for doing this, Keith, it's great to see the photos and nice to watch the group pool clues to the places.
