In the past week I had the pleasure of doing business with three SF Bay Area photo resources and I'd like to take a moment to introduce them to any of you who are not familiar with them and to publicly thank them for their outstanding service.
I was scouting the auction site getting an idea of prices for a 21mm SA when I noticed one (complete w/caps and hood)at Camera West in walnut Creek. The lens was as (if not a bit better) described and fairly priced. the icing on the cake was meeting Hal Kim, a true gentleman with a passion for both photography and Leicas! This was my first visit and certainly won't be my last. BTW they stock film!
At the same time my M6 needed a vertical (only) RF adjustment. Loath to send it out (I usually use Sherry or Steve's in LA) I did a quick Google search and found Advance Camera in SF. I remember using their services years ago (when they still had a store downtown) and gave them a call. Yakov (who now works out of his home in the Sunset) was able to get this done in a week just in time for a trip to SOCAL. Again a fair price and spot on adjustment!
Lastly I need to mention the Looking Glass in Berkeley. A staff that loves photography and they have a great stock of film and developing supplies on hand.
Other than being a satisfied customer I do not have any connection to these businesses but thought they deserved a shout here!
