All,

"The Americans" exhibition will be opening soon at the SF Moma and I thought it might be nice to get the raggedy crew together for an outing. We could do: Museum>Shooting>Beer & Gear.

Thinking maybe Saturday June 13th?

Thoughts?

Looking like a good day for me! I plan on going to that show a couple of times, anyway.

June is a busy month for me, but I could probably make the earlier Saturday work (June 6). Museum>Shooting>Beer&Gear always sounds like a good idea.

I am not sure of my availibility, but if I am available, I would like to meet up with everyone. I think June 13th will work.

What time were you thinking about meeting, and where?

Thanks,

:s:

It would be nice to time the shooting portion more toward the morning or mid-afternoon.

13th should work for me, but so would almost any weekend in June ... will be great to meet up with everyone again. I may have an extra guest pass for someone who isn't a member.

I second Ray's hope that the shooting time be either early or late in the day if at all possible.

I just joined SFMOMA in anticipation of the Frank exhibit (and the fact that the rate is going up at the end of May), so I might also have an extra pass for a non-member.

June is a busy month for me but the 13th looks good.

And I third Ray's suggestion of an earlier or later shooting session. That also allows those who aren't interested in group shooting to, instead, simply meet up with the group for a tour of the museum and the "beer and gear" portion.

We could hit the museum around 1PM, allowing a few hours to tool around. We could then head off to do some shooting and meet up for a bite/drink around dinner.

Thoughts?

Robert,

I wouldn't mind the 6th but I am not sure if I'll be back from Tahoe. Hopefully we can make something work.... haven't seen you in ages and it would be nice to catch up!

Do you still keep in touch with Richard S.?

This sounds like a good schedule. So, June 13 at 1 PM in front of the museum??

It is included in the general admission I am sure. If I find out anything different I'll post a note here.

I just saw the exhibit - it's wonderful on every level: prints looked great, adding new depth and understanding to familiar images from the book (in terms of selection of print size and how they often looked significantly different from the book), great to see the book in order on the walls. The addition of work prints and contact sheets adds insight to process.

Frank might not be your favorite photographer and the book might not be your favorite collection of photographs, but the exhibit is essential.

And...definitely not a separate admission. It's a great time to visit the museum, the new rooftop garden just opened and they did a nice job. Get one of the best espresso coffees in the city at the cafe up there!

I think I can go either the 6th or 13th. For those who can't make the 13th, we could always start a splinter group for the 6th. Agi? Honus? Kent? :)

Kent - Sorry I can't make it on the 13th. Let's be sure to hook up later this summer, though. I haven't talked to Richard S. in awhile, but I'm pretty sure he is still around. Maybe we should organize another one lens, one roll get-together.

A splinter group? I like it. I would definitely be up to going on the 6th for those that can't make it the 13th.

The 6th of June RFF Radicals? I'm in.

I'll try to be there. At this moment, either date works. I like the idea of planning the museum time mid-day, leaving the beginning or end of the day for burning up some film.
