California (Bay Area, Northern) SF Pilgrimage: Looking In: Robert Frank's "The Americans"

I also believe RayPA came a bit more lightly dressed than the previous picture might indicate. Here he was looking for the MOMA:

I KNEW I was going to pay for being a last-minute bail-out!! ;) NOBODY ever asks to ride my bike...hmmm. I wonder why?

And although he arrived late, I was glad RayPa was able to roll in and meet us:

stop it, or I'll post the camera-fondling shot. :p;):D

Glad to see you all had a good visit. Apparently, you made an impression on the security guards. I went to MoMA the next day and had my MP out and draped around my neck. I was stopped by a couple of guards and questioned about my affiliation with "the group from yesterday". When I admitted knowing you guys, I was reminded that the museum already had docents and was asked to be mindful fact that other visitors wanted to form their own opinions on The Americans. I was "tailed" the entire time. What did you guys do in there?!

pss- It appears I can no longer embed images, hmmm...

Kent, embedding images is only "allowed" in certain forums (Photo Clubs not being one of them).

I think we ticked them off when we tried to charge the other patrons for listening in on our erudite commentaries

EDIT: please, please post the pic of Mike cradling the hassy ... that really should be his avatar ;-X

Hmmm.... this is something that would be nice to change. It doesn't cause any real server space issue... I wonder why it's "off"?

Hey Kevin, love the new "kissy face" avatar. (although it's probably giving Paula nightmares...)

Yep, Ray, you shoulda been there on Saturday. At one point I took a picture of one of the Security Guards who was trying to discreetly do some text-messaging on his cell phone while standing behind one of the center display cases. He looked up and saw me taking his picture and said, "you can't take pictures in here." That amused me since there were camera wielding folks throughout the exhibit space (I mean, why would everyone have their camera out if they couldn't use them, right?). So I, without thinking, simply said, "yes, you can. you just can't take pictures of the exhibited artwork." He then looked kinda funny so I explained that the signs all say to not photograph the displayed art, which makes sense because the museum doesn't want people simply making copies of the artwork, but taking pictures of everything else is okay. I then quickly said that I wasn't trying to argue with him or be difficult but that's the policy as I understood it. He then sorta mumbled, "oh, okay," and wandered off. I was then kinda dumbfounded to realize he so readily accepted my explanation.

P.S. And Ray, you can keep your bike; I'm no longer interested in borrowing it...

Good luck on getting that one changed. I think it is a size issue for the server(s). This one of the reasons I created the Bay Area RFF B&G Flickr group a couple of months ago. Flickr is just a better vehicle for coordinating and posting images. Also, apparently, threads here in the Photo Club forum are deleted after a while, and the Gallery upload size seems to shrink regularly as well. But...whatever works. :) :)

And I bet judges believe you, too, Randy! :)

Being the web geek that I am it's actually kind of funny that embedding is off. It takes zero space on the server, instead it will just slow page loading down a bit as it pulls in photos (browser side). I actually link to my pics on Flickr when embedding.

Who knows :)

You're right about embedding. I think maybe the decision to allow embedding and image postings in certain forums only did come about as a concern for the bandwidth/load on the servers. However, I think that decision might have been made prior to the server upgrades that occurred recently. There was a time when RFF j_u_s_t f_r_e_a_k_i_n_g c_r_a_w_l_e_d. Lots of complaints. Stephen and Jorge did a lot of work to speed things up. Probably could allow embedding here now. :)

What?

What?

When I admitted knowing you guys, I was reminded that the museum already had docents and was asked to be mindful fact that other visitors wanted to form their own opinions on The Americans.

What were the guards complaining about?
A. Talking too loudly.
B. Corrupting the minds of visitors.
D. Corrupting the minds of docents.
F. Having opinions.
G. All of the above.

Well, Michael, it seems to me that the answer is clearly either C or E.

I posted 5 shots in my RF gallery from our June 13th Beer and Gear at MOMA. Search on my user name Michael P. I accidentally developed a roll of Ektar 100 in XTOL. See for yourself.
