i notice cameraquest has a 'round' shade for the cv 40 but there are no pics of it.
does anyone use this shade and might you have a snap of it?

i need a shade for my 40 and would go for the the round one if its smaller than the lh-6.

thanks.

With the 35 and filter it vignettes (the heavystar does not), but I guess it won't for the 40 and certainly not on the RD1 ...

great, many thanks roland.

is the heavystar about the same size? it looks a tiny bit bigger from the pics but then i imagine it was significantly cheaper too.

The heavystar is a little wider but about as deep, Joe. Which I needed on the 35/1.4 due to vignetting but shouldn't matter for you.

What you cann't see in my pics is how nice the CV cap fits on Stephen's hood.

for me the cap is not so important as they never leave the house.
i need to head over to ebay and find that hood...

Here' a snap of the 40mm withe the standard CV shade. I thought it came with the lens (I honestly don't remember), but as a bonus, it also fits the Zeiss Biogon 35mm if you happen to own that lens as well :p ...
I don't find it too large...YMMV

I've found that the basic hood, let alone the much bigger LH6 hood, aren't needed on the RD1 or M8 with the 40MC even when shooting with the sun in the frame (w/ no filters).

The CV hood and cap are a great all around 43 combo. I use it on a step up ring with the Canon 28/2.8 lens.
