I uploaded one of my photos to my gallery yesterday ("Me & FED2"), and I remembered that it came from my "FED Adventures" article, available on the Web.
I don't remember advertising this article here, so here it is, just in case someone finds it amusing/interesting...

The Fed 2 I just got seems much better in construction than my Zorki 4. The shutter winds easier, the viewfinder is better for a glasses wearer.
Of course, the Zorki has the Jupiter 8 lens.

Jon, if you never handled a Kiev (4 or 4A), try it. It's a different world! The viewfinder is a pain, though
Handling is much more precise and "cultivated" than a Zorki (or FED, for that matter).
Instead of Zorki's "chuck" shutter sound, on speeds faster than 1/50, you only hear a silent "snick".
1/50 and bellow are heard as "whizz"...
Quite a different world, I tell you. And they usually come with a Jupiter 8. Mine is excellent, produces grat photos... I just got another one a few days ago - this one a model 4 (with a meter - a WORKING meter!). Paid all of about $33 for it - and it came with Helios 103 lens (53/1.8).
Seems like one thing I need the most now is another cupboard to hold all those cameras and lenses

Oh, and yes - the lenses are interchangeable between the FED and the Zorki - they both have the usual M39 screw mount. So, nothing prevents you from mounting that Jupiter 8 on the FED and shoot away!

I posted a picture of the Fed in the Zorky thread, it looks in real good shape for its age, only pictures will tell for sure of course.

Ah yes, a Kiev. Just the thing for me! Another package on the porch for my wife to ask about.
But its historical! And look how cool it looks! It takes great pictures!

ps really enjoyed your Lynx illustrated Fed pictorial. That's another nifty one, the Lynx. I'll never forget the thrill of seeing the stuck shutter on the one I am using now start to move. Yowee!

Just got a roll back of pictures taken with the Zorki. Haven't scanned any yet, but they look really good.

Great shameless plug! The flea markets where you live are way cooler than where I live Here(upstate NY, USA) there are always lots of Argus c3 cameras--nice but I have one-- and about a gazillion old polaroid folders--the ones that used the polariod roll film-- that are priced insanely!! Its probably just as well tho, I'm liking these FSU cameras very much (I have a Kiev 4a, Agat 18, Kiev 60, Zorki 10, Fed 5c) so if there were any locally I would have to buy them! Since I don't do eb@y, I slow down and haven't bought that many---yet(I am negotiating for a Zorki 3m now )!
Your freind is very good at guesstimating distance per the photo of you using the Lynx.
