No problem Peter! Nothing quite like the R-D1! I always thought if they had made a full frame version it would have killed Leica!!!

Joining the party. Picked one up, based on its file naming it might have only had 134 exposures on it. It is in mint condition so I believe it.

Shawn,
I hope you like your new purchase it is definitely a one of camera not for everyone that's for sure. The thumb wind for me as such a great feel and reminds me so much of the film days and I found myself playing with the settings a lot more now. My screen is always turned inwards as I just don't need it when I am out to me so far it as been a real joy to use. Hope to see some of your work on one of the R-D1 Flickr groups, I will look out.

It is a very interesting purchase to think about. I remember reading a little about the R-D1 when it first came out and I pretty much ignored it. At the time I had moved from a F5 to a D1H and had shoot almost entirely SLRs in my film days.
The last 8 years or so I've been shooting some film rangefinders as I enjoy the tactile experience of using them and it helped me focus more on light and exposure. Really love both eyes open shooting with the 1:1 viewfinder of my Konica IIIa. I don't use it all the time due to the time constraints of developing and scanning the film. Reading again about the Epson and its 1:1 finder a lightbulb went off... I scan on a Pakon which is 6mp... the Epson is 6mp...
I keep the screen turned in too and also have it in a RFF leather half case. I haven't used another digital that feels so much like a film camera. I'm also trying to shoot it more like a film camera in not downloading the pictures until I either fill the SD card or have to change out the battery.

My DP3M and DP2M were about a 'roll' per battery.... and maybe a 24 exposure roll at that. Compared to them the Epson lasts forever.
I did buy a couple of Wasabi aftermarket batteries. They seems to be OK but I don't know what an original was like when new. I did realize my battery meter needed to be calibrated.
Battery pack looks cool. If batteries get too bad I was thinking about something like that but integrating it into a 3d printed grip for the Epson.
