Hi all,
It's my birthday, and a fellow RFF member is helping me with the technics of a lens shade for the Summitar. As for the Bessa, it may not be quite as strong or as advanced as some of the newer 'M' models, and I love it.

See below 😉 Looks better Large...
Cheers, Mike

Happy birthday! I can't believe how you have that thing balanced on the rail. One gust of wind and bye bye birthday present.

For the record, when I had a Summitar I would regularly collapse it into my Bessa R. I measured the clearance from the shutter with a micrometer and it was fine. The only problem was that the retracting barrel *could* scrape the side of an interior light baffle if I let the lens wiggle as I retracted it. I was careful to retract the lens straight back and it was never a problem.

Happy Birthday Mike and many more. The more filmusers survive, the better chance that we will be able to buy film in our "dotage".
The Summarit is a favourite of mine. Very distinct signature and in many ways I prefer to the collapsible Summicron. I also love watching those shutterblades move! I never bother to callapse it as they tend to be a bit sticky and you have to exert force in "uncollapsing it".
