I needed to test out an SLR I got for one of my brothers, so I headed out to the next county to take shots of some old buildings. Mainly, it was the right time of day, and the right time of year for the sun angles I was wanting.

Shawsville is kind of like two towns. The older, run down original section that sits next to, and below, the railroad tracks. And the newer part that sits along the relocated highway that used to pass through the center of town. The older section is mostly homes, and former business buildings that have mostly been converted into apartments. But there are some that will never see a remodelers touch, and they are the most interesting.

The link at the end will take you to the complete set on Flickr.

Well, the only thing digital about the post is the images you see here being scans from a roll of Kodak Gold 200, shot with a Canon AE-1 Program using an FDn 50/1.8, and FL 35/3.5, and a Vivitar 75-210/3.8-4.8 in FD mount. But I do use PS Elements as a replacement for a wet darkroom.

I just now saw these. I've been through Shawsville. Mainly when they are blasting I 81. I don't recall seeing these cool old buildings or that cat.:D

No, you wouldn't GB, unles you take the Old Town turn off. Same as Elliston, they moved the main road when they four-laned it.
