No this is not about a wedding proposal. I've been married for 13 years.

No, my wife (and CFO) has given me the green light to get the M8 I have coveted for so long! I'm off to Dale Labs before she changes her mind!

Will post some pics later today!

My M8 was very expensive. First was the cost of the diamond ring then to even things up I could buy something expensive. Enjoy the M8.

Congrats on the M8.

You know, after reading these kinds of threads, I must be one of the luckiest men in the world. I never have to ask my wife for permission to purchase anything photo related. If I do ask her, she always says - this is your money and you know best. She understands what I do and has always been extremely supportive. Photography makes up a third or more of my income and keeps growing.

I am very lucky.

Now I get the big N word when the M8 is discussed; admittedly when we discuss retirement, the N becomes M, a maybe. So: now M8=N; if R, then M8=M. And making a M into Y involves serious time and work.

But now I am content with film and my mechanical Ms for the most part. There is the odd time I wish I had a digital camera strictly for convenience's sake.

It's only fair you get the M8. After all you've given her the best years of your life. Mine bought me a Nikon D80. Got it in january and only used it half a dozen times. Maybe I should've held out for the M8 too!

See, you only got a D80...you must not be as good to your wife as the OP is.
:D

6 months from now: Honey you know that $5000 camera you bought...well I was just wondering if we could?_____________ fill in the blank. But who gives a rip anyway! Life is too short to do without. Enjoy the M8.

I was just picking around anyhow. My wife is good like that. And all wives should be that way, and men too.;)

Conversely ... my M8 has told me I'm definitely not allowed another wife! :p

You are one of the luckiest, but you're not the only one. My wife is the same; it's my money and I do what I like. She has her money, and she does what she likes. We just make sure that we meet our obligations to our common life (rent, car payments, etc).

I don't make any money from my photography, so if I said I was going to buy something as expensive as the M8, she'd at least want to talk to me about it first. I'm a bit impulsive sometimes: While she was gone for the last three weeks, I bought a new Bluetooth wireless headset for my mobile, a new iMac, and a VW Golf.

I think next time she goes away, she's taking the debit card and leaving me with $100 cash! :D

Well, the missus OK'd the purchase after I showed how I plan to pay for it without affecting general house balance sheet. I am going to have to sell off my 1Dmk2 kit for now, but I'll probably pick up a 75mm Summarit and maybe a D300 + 18-200mm for when the kids put on a stage show (school does that every other year).

And here is my offcial first pic:

This is a shot of the Orange Geiger that grows in our front yard. Yes, that is the color of the flowers!

WOW! the battery charged up that fast. Seems like everytime I buy something I have to let the batt. charge for 24 hours. I hate that! Very nice. Enjoy!:)

Black.

And, you all may hate me for this, I bought the demo unit from Dale Labs, so the battery was fully charged (and I got a discount).

Another one for your consideration:

My wife was sick the day I bought my M8 and did not have the strenght to kill me. ;-) By the time she got well enough she had cooled off. It was Valentine's Day, and I did get her a card and a Valentine Cookie. ;-)
