Forgive me if this is a silly question...(coming up soon) but in all the reading I've done it seems like lenses designed for film and digital have slightly different tolerances.

I shimmed a Canon 50mm F/1.8 LTM lens for my recently acquired Leica M8. I needed to add a paper shim to adjust for a slight backfocus. After adjusting the shims, focus is spot on.

I also have a Leica M4-P. Theoretically, the focus should be spot on when mounted to that camera as well, right? Or will the focus be slightly off because it's film rather than a digital sensor?

I know I can test it and find out for certain, but assuming the rangefinder is adjusted accurately on both, will they be accurately focusing on both bodies?

I shim my RF lenses with M-E 220 and use them on film LTM and M as well.
Both 50 1.8 LTM Canon I had, have needed re-shimming.

Was the focus still spot on when you used them with film?

Bonus question: How about with an original Bessa-R (LTM) body? Has anyone found any differences between these bodies and Leica M bodies in terms of focusing (after properly using an adapter)

Cheers!
I've been using LTM cameras for years but quite new to using M-mount ^^;;

If it is going to be different, the only reason - different alignment of RF.

I don't know who came with this digital is different from film bogus. Maybe @f0.95 and one meter. Maybe.
All known, non exotic film, digital cameras withing LTM, M mounts and RF are the same in terms of focusing. Except FSU which used different Zeiss mount specifications.

Cheers! That's a very clear answer.
