Anybody want to share their cleaning tips for your FSU shooters? The Zorki I just
received is in pretty good shape cosmetically and seems to be funtioning fine. But
it could use a good outside cleaning. Anyone who has any pointers on detailing, use of particular cloths, pads, brushes, etc. and your favorite cleaning fluid/polish/nukempucky, whatever -- hey, I'm all ears ... oh yeah, except for my ten thumbs.

What kind of zorki is it? If its dirty on the outside then its probably 3 times as dirty on the inside and many times a removing a cover here and there to blow out dust isnt that hard and can help you sleep at night.

For my cameras I usually a wet cloth.

Ronsonal (sp?) will clean the plating on the exterior. Seems to get down in the tiny pits and lift out the dirt.. Then polish with a microfibre cloth. I usually clean the vulcanite with denatured alcohol then use black shoe dye and/or black shoe polish.

Toothbrush, q-tips w/ alcohol. Little dishsoap & water for the oily grimy stuff.

Well crap. Guess I'll roll the sandblaster back out to the garage. I can see you guys are going the finesse route. Gracias mucho mis hermanos. I'm off to start spit-shinnin'. It's a Zorki 4 with the ribbed black covering (whatever that stuff is). No, it's not real filthy. In fact, I yanked the little dude out of it's hand made cardboard box and [stinky] leather case, wiped off the glass, threw some film in it and went shooting.

Still, einolu, I'd welcome some "pop the hood on it" pointers for a little interior spiffing up. I'm thinking like you... "If the outside is a little dull, the inside is possibly [probably] gunked to the gills."

fraley - Thanks for the link to the covers. I can definately see one of those coming my way soon.
