Shock, horror! Canon REDUCES the amount of pixels on successor camera!

The new Canon S90 looks interesting. It has the same "high-sensitivity" 10 MP sensor as the G11 and has a manual-focus ring on the lens (the ring is actually programmable to other functions as well).

Thank God! The lower MP and improved software should certainly imprive low light performance and possibly allow really decent IQ at ISO 800 or slightly more. Smart move on Canon's part. I've always felt 10 MP is as high a digicam should go given the tiny sensor size involved.

Nikon realized this even before and came out with built-in projector. Sony unveiled so called "smile shutter" - software recognizes white blob inside red blob and in very same moment fires shutter.

That's true, megapixel war is over. Post-war period will bring lots of weird features. Let's hope sometimes mainstream will work on hi-iso IQ.

Looks like they want to go head to head with the Pany Lx3. Lens not quite as wide, but it is f2.0 and considerably longer on the long end.
