The trick is not closing one eye, if you leave the left eye open it is not a problem, unless you are really tired.
I use .72 finders (M2 etc.) and 28mm and need to keep both eyes open to 'see' the frame, because of my specs.
A M3 (or Oly OM1 with 5 cm lens) one does not notice the difference unless you look for it.
