Hi guys...


Ok... I've been tempted long enough... Met someone over the wkend here in tokyo shooting with a D-RF. (epson R-d1s...) Talked to the nice chap, and borrowed his R-D1 for 2 mins, held it, shot 1 shot with it, and wow.... first time i've tried one... bad mistake.. Now I want one.

As such, anyone here have reccs on where would be a nice place to obtain one of these bad boys? (new? Used? Refurbs? fleabay? yuck..)

I'm still reading on the forums as to the difference between the R-d1 and 1s, and am that hoping that someone here could give a brief run down on the differences. Would the R-D1 work the same as the 1s with the new firmware?

and lastly, anyone have one to sell or trade? (have a minty D200 with grip and boxes and all plus armour and extra batts.)

Take JR off Shinjiku eki, west exit, walk 5 mins to Map Camera 2nd store. They advertised "special priced" RD-1s on magazine, down $7,160 Yen, w monthly Y$6,700x 35.
Last time I was at Yodorbashi, there is open display. Good luck.

I don't know how often they come up, but someone posted here a month or two ago that there were refurbs available at Epson. They went fast, though. The pricing was excellent - $1400 with the coupon, which includes (fwiw?) a one year Epson warranty. Can't return refurb purchases, though. I bought one and had the same reaction you did. Too much fun! 😀
