Exactly as the title asks; I need money for rent this month and one of these will need to go. I just got the Summaron, but it is a neat lens. On the other hand, my III is the first (film) Leica which I owned and is somewhat special because of that.
Decisions 🙁😕

Once read: when having learned how to play a guitar, sell it. Buy another one that has no emotional value so you can get rocking!

Sell the III and if you later buy another one, use the heck out of it. The Summarons are on the rise, should you decide to sell it in the future, then it will bring more.

Those were all the reasons I could think of!😀

As far as shooting, I don't/haven't babied the III and shot it like normal, but at this point, I'm using my M3 almost exclusively and only use the III as a backup or if I want to have a second camera loaded and ready.
I've already been through a bunch with them both though 😉 Since I'm not a collector, I suppose it would be the right thing to sell my III to someone who could really use it.

The Summaron with goggles for M3 or w/o, ostensibly for M2? The former fetches less than the latter. $450-600 for the first; $600 to $900 or more (butrarely) for the second. The III will get you $300 tops.

On the other hand if I ever get hold of one of the Summarons in good shape I'm not letting go.

It is the version without goggles and originally came that way, they aren't missing. It is not in perfect condition, but I'd assume it to be at least slightly above KEH's "bgn" grade, but it has two body nicks, and three clear dots on an element: neither of which affect the photo.
I was intending on pricing around $750-800 Buy it Now. The genuine Summaron cap is immaculate though!
