Should I switch to a more complex rangefinder, like Bessa ? (Need opinions)

I wouln't jump for some new equiptment for a project, but with new gear brings new motivation.... Or that could be making an excuse for GAS. Sometimes I wish I didn't get rid of my GIII to get my Bessa. I should have kept it as a backup.

You are getting great results with what you have. unless your looking for a wider view of things i wouldn't change a thing :)

I would repeat what others have already said, perhaps from the reversed angle.

I am a totally newbie with the Electro cameras. Last Friday I went to some place to use it for street photography, that as you know demands quick manipulation.

At home and even at some quiet situations the Electro have seem to me an extremely easy camera to handle. Great yellow patch, no exposure worry, very grippable, etc. Yet as a newbie in the street, that Friday I was in great pains with quick focusing, with finding the focusing ring instead to the f/stop ring and vice-versa, with depressing the trigger at the right point, and with quickly winding.

Of course all these are not but newbie troubles, that I will eventually overcome with due time.

I, for all my varied gear, envy your control of your Electro. Reverse this sentence, and it means you do have an extra asset with that camera.

In other words, "Mother, there is only one".

I take no sides concerning wether you may buy other gear, as there is no reason why either you or me will eventually become versatile in their manipulation. It depends on your feelings, budget, and your sense of wether you are done with your Electro and need more features, which the Electro is denying you.

But I bet that for those instances in which you would like to feel a hundred percent sure of the results, you will comming back home. There is nothing like home.

So take it easy, go along your budget and nose, and for sure relief yourself you are working with an "outdated" camera.

Best wishes in your Odissey,
Ruben

well, I would suggest that WHEN you move to an interchangeable lens camera [yeah when not if :D] you pass by the R and go with the bayonet mount lens cameras. I like my R but the ease of changing lenses on my R2 is worth the difference in cost.

on the other hand a L with a 25MM will give you wide angle at an inexpensive cost.

As others have said you are doing great with what you have.....hmmm would it improve with an upgrade in equipment:eek:

Ruben,

What a generous compliment is this!! thanks a lot.

I think for this upcoming project, it's best to stick with what you know.

That doesn't mean you can't go out and get a new camera to play around with. Once you get to know it, then you can make the transition to use it as primary setup

Just to join in... I have a Yashica and a bessa-r. The lens on the yashica is very sweet, I love the tones it produces, sharp but creamy. But the shutter priority mode drives me a little nuts. I love control of depth of field, and it's tough with yashica. You have some incredible pics (that whirling dervish dancers shot is amazing), but a bessa might give you more options.
