Sell my 51 vintage Kiev II and invest the money back into my Leica gear??

I've only used it a couple of times grabbing a Leica instead when going out to shoot..

I would.

Pro: The Kiev is a lovely thing.

Con: The Leica is easier to shoot with, and you've already made that choice.

Cheers,

R.

That it is.....and a fine shooter..

I grew up with Leicas getting my first one at 6 years of age so they are a natural for me..

I don't really see the point in selling the Kiev though ... I have the same camera and although I don't use it much what I'd get for it would probably only buy me a worn out IIIC or a scratched hazy Summitar ... or a meal for two with a bottle of average Shiraz at a half decent restaurant! :p

keep your kiev it's too nice to sell at the curent cheap price...
otherwise send it too me (he will find friends to chat with on my shelf)

You seem to own SEVERAL Leicas and two Kievs, therefore your prospected move about which you are asking is not clear.

Is there a specific Leica part you need ?, Do you wand to end relations with Kievs ?

Cheers,
Ruben

Colyn, get a Contax IIIa instead to keep the Kiev company ;)

I'm also curious as to which Leica stuff you're looking for.

Currently I have 3 Kiev's and 2 Contax II cameras. I use the Contax more than the Kievs but like them all. I use my Leicas more and am thinking about selling the Kievs but keeping the Contax cameras..

Actually I wasn't thinking about any part or camera in particular.

If I sell I'll probably keep one of the Kievs.

I just saw a Contax IIIa on eBay for $900

I'm always looking at Leica gear but buy little. I bought a wartime IIIc last night on eBay.

Is it the Kiev in the picture (Kiev 2A?) which has been serviced?
I need a single logo Kiev for my collection :) .....is it with J8 or J3?

My avatar is the Kiev II without flash sync. It has the J-8 50mm f/2 lens

>>How is a bottom loading Leica with the dinky squinty VF easier to use than a Kiev?

-feels better in your hand
-doesn't have an annoying infinity focus lock
-is smaller
-advance knob is smoother and taller
-better placement of the shutter release

...well, those are a few things that come to my mind why my Kiev sits and my Leica IIIc gets used...

You forgot the Contax hold. One finger on the shutter button while using the other to focus without covering the rf window..

Either way both are fun to use..
