when i was at the estate sale today, i saw but did not buy a nikkor ai 50/1.4 for $20 ---- just wasn't interested in another mf nikon lens- -- my kit weights too much as it is --- plus i felt i got the deal on the leica binoculars ---- someone else will have the good fortune..... may swing by there tomorrow and see if it's still there

I personally don't like the Nikon 50 1.4 (too much barrel distortion, ugly bokeh, low contrast wide open), but many people love the lens. It shouldn't be too hard to sell.

I bought this lens about 2-3 times, trying to like it. I finally just gave up, preferring my 50 1.8 AI instead. But, it sold very quickly at auction.

nikonsguy--Duuuuude!!!
A 50/1.4 for 20 bux??!!??
It is your MORAL obligation to get one for that price!
Unless, of course, the front element was done in by a screwdriver--
Go back and get it!! Seriously--a 50/1.4 left alone for the non-believers?
Can fathom it--nightmares tonite...🙂

Didn't some guy bartered a paper clip and eventually got a house? That $20 Nikkor could have been the first step to a Noctilux.

Condition is everything. If it's ugly, and the glass or aperture mechanism has defects, then pass on it regardless of the price.

Similar considerations for the F3.
