shouldn`t of done it!

oh dear...you sound like me, today I was buying a dry box for all my *choke* canon gear and saw a guy buying an m7 and a 50 cron and I was thinking "wonder how many times I would have to beat him over the head with my dry box to knock him out so I can take that thing..."

also, don't sell the xpan. you *will* regret that.

(i need to add X-Pan II to my tagline........)

also also.....have a look at Mainline Photographics in Crowie......

Well, there never was a 35/1.4 Asph for $2800. There was a used one sold earlier in the week that lasted 5 mins i the store that sold for $2500, but that's it. A new 35/1.4 ASPH they have sells for around 4K......shame......

Are you sure it was the Lux, and not the Cron....$2800 seems a little cheap for the Lux ASPH and more so suited towards the price of a Cron???[/QUOTE You are correct, it was the cron. That was the price if you were buying a body as well, my apologies.

There is sort of a cure for this. Go and look for a M2/M3/M4, they are a lot cheaper and equally good if you can live without a builtin meter. You also get real vintage feel.. 😉

I've been into thinking about Leicas for a long time, and let me just say that the M7 is the one to have. Or a chrome MP with black vulcanite.

Of course, from a very practical standpoint, the Xpan does do both formats, so you're really give up panoramic for a camera that does half as much.

Better camera, but not necessarily more useful. Maybe just a little.

Very good point. I don`t think I could sell it as I really do love the pano format. Maybe I`ll have to save a bit harder and wait a bit longer for that beautiful m7.

if you want to try one sometime before you shell out your dough, we could meet up one weekend and you could put a roll or two through one of mine. no m7, but an m6ttl or an m3.......

we could do a sydney rff gathering in the rocks or the gardens?

That sounds like a good idea, not sure how many sydney rff`ers there are, but any saturday in the rocks would be good for a gathering.

Thanks for the offer of checking out your leica, very generous of you, cheers, Parkes.

I hear herion is less addictive than handling a Leica. 🙂 And easier to ween off from. 😛 Could be cheaper too.

No probs, i used to own an X-Pan, and if you can help it, don't sell it, save up and get the 30mm if you don't already own one- ECS in Sydney has one for about $2500.

As for the Leica M, it's something that MUST be experienced in your lifetime. It isn't for everyone, but after using the X-Pan, the Leica M is a nice change.
