Wouldn't mind reprinting this one split grade to pull a little more tones out of it but oh well.

trying some split grade. I think i've gotta play with some other developers and films though. Not quite the look I like. Still kind of boring even with split grade.

This result isn't too bad!

As I only use Tmax400-2 (exposure @ 200 ISO) and Perceptol I always have negatives with a very fine grain and well exposed shadows.

The first exposure is relatively long with filter 00 so the lightest parts of the image will have tone.
The second exposure, with filter 5, is only aimed at the deep shadows and is much shorter.

It takes quite some time to find the correct exposures. You need a digital timer (with a memory). But the principle is very simple.

I have an analog timer. It's not as accurate as a digital timer but it's better than nothing.

I want to try my next roll of HP5 at 200. The results I've seen are very silvery and the shadow detail is higher.

I have 100 ft of it that I plan on eventually doing a weekly youtube episode showcasing a short roll with images printed.

Also this paper was very different than the ilford stuff. Not sure if I'm sold on it though. I would really love to get my hands on some glossy warmtone fibre paper though.

Get ADOX MCC 110. I've printed B+W for over fifty years, but I've never had such beautiful stuff. It is perfect for split grade printing, because the gradations are extremely distinct. It is also easy to dry on a drying machine (impossible with Ilford).
