Show me your latest darkroom prints

Here are some decent scans.. excuse the strange scanner glass artifacts. need to get a new flatbed (epson v200 is getting a tad tired). These were done on a Focomat IIc.

Fujica GS645W, Ilford HP5+, D76 1+1, Ilford Multigrade MGIV RC Pearl 8x10, Dektol.

I am not sure when it was made, but I think it was at the brink of the changeover from the 1a to the 1c. The lens that came on it was an Elmar from 1951 (I think?). Been a while. Whatever year it was when i looked it up was right before or after the 1c came out. Not a bad little enlarger. I picked it up for a dollar plus some shipping. I mainly use it for proof prints. Mostly 5x7 quickies. I think I get some light falloff which I am just noticing. If you have any ideas on that I am all ears....
 
I know that there were Elmars for enlargers in those years, soon to be replaced by Focotars (50mm f/4.5). Does your enlarger have an anti-Newton disk (to prevent Newton-rings)?

Maybe the light falloff is caused by a wrong bulb. Is there also light falloff when you stop down to f/8?

The bulb I have in there is yanked all the way to the top. I think it is a standard Eiko ph211. My neg carrier is a custom jobbie with coated glass on the bottom and anti newton glass on top. The condenser sits on the anti newton glass.

I suspect it may be the bulb which isn't the super short necked original bulb. I have been thiniking about it over the last few days and i think I am going to put a diffusion disk on top of the condenser tube housing thingy where the locking ring is, then put a reflector type bulb in there and see how that works.

I do remember when i move around the bulb I can see it change on the easel.

I have a Saunders 4x5 so it isn't that big a deal.

I've used it with five or six different lenses. Right now I have a Durst Neonon on it. I've also used it with a Fuji EX, Computar DL, the Elmar, Minolta-X Rokkor, Focotar II and a few others. I have a lot of lenses. Lol.

I really only just noticed it because this image needed to be burned on the ends which I've never had to do with other enlargers and this image.

Thanks for the link Eric. Unfortunately I am in the US and they cost 50 pounds with shipping. Yikes! LOL.

I was just in the darkroom checking this issue out. I think I had what we call over here a brain fart. Lol. I think I was printing that image at f/2.8 which may account for the falloff. I just measured with the enlarging attachment on the Gossen SBC and I am not getting more than perhaps 1/3 of a stop falloff in the corners. That is with the bulb all the way up and all the way down. It didn't make a difference. I cut a piece of white plexi so I'll give that a go when I get a new type of bulb. I'm thinking about putting in an LED bulb and hopefully get more light without resorting to a 150 watt incandescent. Too much heat.

It is just a standard 1a.

The led bulb + the white plexiglass was a failure. Lol. I think I need to get a different bulb and try it again. The angle was too direct and the head of the bulb was too small.

I have also been thinking about keeping the regular bulb and putting a white lining in the tube. I did some measurments last night and the edges are around 2/10ths under the center. All other enlargers I've used had a fully diffuse light source. I'm thinking that just adding the lining might be perfect. Now I just have to figure what to make it out of. Always something....

As I make split-grade prints, I need for the soft exposure a filter that produces flat, diffuse light. I found in a CD box some really nice stuff for this: transparant white plastic, like textile fabric, with very fine holes in it so it does not absorb all the light, but diffuse nevertheless almost 100%. Maybe you can find someting like that. I bundle this filter with the 00-Ilford multigrade filter.
