G1s just have a nice and elegant looking design with clean lines. I like the reflections on the camera and lens your image, though balancing it on the lens cap doesn't quite do it. Sure with the shorter 35 and 28 this is easier, since the "nose" wouldn't weigh so much.

I have a Contax IIa but no decent pics of it. Here are the Contax cameras I have photos of . . . the G1 and G2. I love the G lenses (and their used prices).

According to John Keesing's Contax Rangefinder Lenses 1932-1962, approximately 7500 (3000 Zeiss-Opton, 4500 Carl Zeiss).
Does anybody know how many of these late Contax West German Carl Zeiss 50mm F3.5 Tessars were produced ?.

1 of my Black Dial IIa's w/35/2.8 Zeiss-Opton Biogon, next to a partially-finished Budweiser (the original Czech version, sold as "Czechvar" here in the States) taken by another photographer @ a meetup:

A quick snap of my Contax family, forgot the gold T2. To Furcafe, Czech Budweiser is my favorite brew, it is hard to find a bottle that is not skunky in Tokyo. They have it on tap in my favorite bar in Ulaan Baatar, great stuff.

I'm number 7 on henry Scherer's waiting list. (I started at #63.) I'll be able to participate in about 3 months.![]()
Henry is a great Guy, I waited a year on my IIa, when I finally got it back I did not recognize it, total rework, aces all the way.

A year? Holy crap!! Of course - he'll be working on resurrecting a 72-year old camera when he gets my Contax II . . .

Don't ever forget that, despite his protests, Mr. Scherer is not the only one who works on the Contax camera.

Maybe so - but he's the only one who will work on mine. - Paul

Hi,
One Contax IIA
And one G1 (with 45/2 and 28/2.8)
The IIa is much more beautiful, the lenses of the G1 are terrific.

Whatever
Try Frank Marshman at Camera Wiz in Harrisonburg, VA. He's fixed both my Contax I, Contax II and Contaflex TLR, and it didn't take a year.

D'oh!
I now have a camera on Henry's work bench. It should be ready in a week or two. But I won't be taking delivery - I've asked Henry to sell it for me on his web site. It only took two years on his waiting list to move to this point . . .
