Dave, congratulations for your purchase!
I am sure you will enjoy it, the lens will offer astonishing result; I would suggest you to use a lens hood because it may suffer for flare.
Hope to see few pictures soon!

Noted. I've been looking at black I-61LD lenses on ebay, some of which have a lenshood as well.Mauro said:Dave, congratulations for your purchase!

The results will be slow to appear... my left arm is still in a sling, but is slowly becoming useable again.Mauro said:Hope to see few pictures soon!

Thanks for the help in the other thread too, btw.

Hmm... AltaVista Babelfish shows it as "Byutiful'! Philipp". Funny how these online translators can get it so wrong.john_van_v said:"we have ways of making you cooperate"

Har Har, no need. I bet he just said " beautiful, Philipp" - in English using cyrillic script. Many words in Russian are much the same but I doubt that one is.

The little plastic nubs that grip to the outer portion of the lens ring wear off really quickly. I'll need to do something to mine to make it grip again.

Like the rest of FSU, it is an aquired taste.

The best camera is one that still works!
My Fed 2 with a combination of Zhou case ... Gordy strap and a Canon f1.4 50mm with a recently aquired S-50 hood.

This old FED is presumed and capricious.
It has been in the clinic of Doctor Zorkenstein, for a small aesthetic surgery. The body has altered him, to reaffirm it, and to put ears.
Yes Sir, is necessary to take care of the image!!!

Thanks for the comments.
Here is my very first Soviet camera, a mint Kiev 4 of 1965 when Kiev 4 was a state gift of USSR. Mao, Liu, Dong and others each received a Kiev 4 from visiting Soviet leaders.

Check out this super-stylish Fed 5
Picked it up today for 10 Euros. I bought it mainly for the lens, the I-61 L/D, but the camera body is also very interesting ... it has a built in meter which seems to be quite exact and is very convenient! First test roll is drying in the bathroom right now

The lens is odd. It has no clickstops for the apertures, and is shown to have a focal length of 52mm (2.8/52). Having bought a (poorly) FED-4 last week, its lens is an Industar-61 as well, but that one has clickstops and has a focal length of 53mm (2.8/53). Hmm...
Dave, I've always wanted a black Fed, whom did you buy this from if I may ask?

It was bought from an Ebay seller called "a-lenka".shadowfox said:Dave, I've always wanted a black Fed, whom did you buy this from if I may ask?
And now, my latest purchase... a 1953 Kiev 2...

... with a 1959 J8 lens. Hmm.
Also, this cameras shutter was badly misfiring when I first tried it, but the camera was pretty cold. It's warmed up since, and the shutter seems to be firing ok. So, fingers crossed.

sitemistic said:I really like the Zhou case on Keith's Fed 2. One of them is definately on my Fed 2's Christmas list. Didn't plan on buying it a Gordy strap, but it sure goes good with that case. Decisions, decisions![]()
You'll notice that the Zhou case protrudes above the level of the dioptor lever ... which has been a godsend because now it gets protection from being bumped out of whack constantly when you're handling the camera!

Hi keith,
I guess that case should cost more than the camera? It made the Fed-2 look like a luxury toy.

I did create that post but for some reason it is not visible in the general viewing area for posts. Don't know why.
