And since the postman keeps bringing me these lovely packages with weird writing/stamps/yak hair on them, I thought I should remember him...

If your going to put a lot of films through the Fed 4, buy a supply of finger bandages. It must have one of the nastiest rewind knobs ever, used to remove loads of skin from my thumb!!!

Well the blame for the Zenith can be laid squarely at Mr Jay Javier's door - he has one on his site and I saw it and just knew I'd have to have one! Yes, it's one sweet camera, sort of honorary RF I think.
The FED 4 hasn't been used yet - I have several other cameras in the queue to be used first! I think I perceive the rewind issue though. It needed the VF/RF cleaning but otherwise seems good. The FED 5B is an olympic version and needs new curtains, otherwise in excellent condition (possibly *because* of the curtains!). Both needed the lenses re-lubing, unsurprisingly. The 5B is a little project for a rainy day I think...
To be honest I'm not keen on the looks of the 4 or 5, but I needed them to complete the collection of major FED models. Having said that, they are growing on me and the 4 seems to be a very good "user", plus they were both very cheap.

Hey comp_wiz, you didn't happen to take some digi photos of the Z3 CLA did ya? I really need to break into mine and I am stuck at getting the slow speed dial off.

To tell the truth I'm not sure if I still have them, but I'll try to remember to have a look see when I get home for it.TVphotog said:Hey comp_wiz, you didn't happen to take some digi photos of the Z3 CLA did ya? I really need to break into mine and I am stuck at getting the slow speed dial off.
If I remember properly, I had a lot of trouble with that too, until I realized that the dial itself didn't need to come off. The little "knob" part can be removed, but that is only for adjusting the mechanism.

Zorki-6 with rigid Industar-50. My favourite lens for daylight shooting. It only needs a hood. Would 37mm fit?
Most FSU lenses take 40.5mm screw-in accessories - except for J-9 which is 49 and the collapsibles which can only take 36 (?) slip-on...

According to the official KMZ archive site the figures for the rigid Industar 50 are:-
Screw in thread
Индустар-50 -- СпM33x0,5
Индустар-50-2 -- M35,5x0,5
Push on sizes (outside dia)
Индустар-50 -- Ø36 мм
Индустар-50-2 -- Ø37 мм
The lens should be marked whether it is a 50 or the later 50-2
Hope this helps.
see
http://www.zenit.istra.ru/archive/lenses/industar-50.html
Further check would seem to indicate that the 50-2 was only made in 39mm screw for the Zenith SLR cameras, not the R/F cameras
