40mm focal length probably does not need a r/f!! Wish it had a D of F scale though,and a more "grippy focussing ring. Mine came with a reverseable lens hood.
I would also add that it is one of the best finished of the FSU cameras, with good chrome, anf all the bits fit and work well.

Patrick, I don't think it's special. If you mean the color I was told it was painted by some Ukrainian guy. I have seen ads from Russia advertising black Zorki 2's that are more then gas inducing. I think FrankS has one, or did.

This is my Zorki 4K with Jupiter 8. I bought it three weeks ago in Budapest when my digital camera broke down. I just happened to pass by a shop and saw it on display in the window. It's my first rangefinder camera and I like it more and more.

That really is a nice photograph. I commented about 5 months ago how well everybody photographs their cameras.
I have never been able to master studio photography, but then I never had any equipment.

Interesting that it doesn't have the original black Jupiter - the older tabbed lens has a more complex design of helicoid. The Zorki 4K is a highly competent camera. Just try not to wear off the printed speed dial numbers! Nice camera, well photographed too. They often seem to be well-preserved, bar those numbers.magnus67 said:

What a suberb collection and lovely pictures! How did you get them all so clean? I'm particularly intrigued by your FED 3A, the speed-selector is a 2-piece that I've not seen before. Rather rare Zorki 2 and knob-wind FED 4 as well...Ulrich Witte said:

It is a nice camera, but this is why I got if free:
The view finder was foggy the first day I had it, and clear the second. Then the third day it went black. Would that be fungus? (This may be too much information, but fungicide works wonders in a lotion, which would not work here)
Is there any experience out there taking apart a Z-4 rangefinder?

Well I'm not a studio expert either. I used a black background, light from the window at right angle from left. A 40W light some 50 cm above and 20 cm behind the object. And then automatic flash from my digital compact Fuji E900. (I got it back from repair just the other day.)
Some minor editing in Gimp to deepen the shadows and convert to b&w (the light bulb gives a nasty yellow tone in some areas.)

well, a common "issue" with the Z4 is that people push the diopter adjustment lever at the left of the VF and the picture gets blurred, but never to such a point that there isn't any image at all.
The Z4 is a wonderful camera to use (I have one made in 1963 a.d.), mine is surprisingly quiet (as quiet as my Kiev 3a), focusing is damn easy (esp with the diopter adjustment 😛 ) but changing the speeds is sometimes a pain in the neck, since the speed knob is really small and hard to read, i.e. for speed below 1/60th - the 1/30 position is apart, quite weird.
