I seem to have found this thread rather late, but here are my Russian beauties. A plain Zorki 1 bought in a little camera shop in St. Petersburg, a Zorki C with a J3. A black repainted Zorki 1 with 50mm f2, and a makeover Fed which is supposed to look like a Red Army camera.

1954 Kiev III, block logo, rare B prefix s/n. Very new, and looks as precision as a Contax III.😀

Zorki 2C type A. Made between 1955-56. This camera is very smooth, and appears somewhat better made. The logo's lettering style is also different.🙂

Just recieved a near new FED 5. Will probably run some film through it at some stage but really bought it for the I-61 L/D for my RD-1.

Boy has it got a dim viewfinder compared with the RD-1 and R3A! But the patch seems to snap into focus nicely.

Dismantled the lens and relubed thanks to http://www.mattdentonphoto.com/cameras/industar_relubing/index.html and it is much better now.

Wow I really like your RED FED!, The below camera just arrived from France, mind you with orginial Zeiss lens!

Yeah, my Red FED is pretty bright to look at 🙂 My wife likes it at least - like some fashion object!

That's a nice Kiev and with the CZ lens as well. They have an amazing rangefinder base. From a person who uses a RD1 (and had a R3A) that is luxury!

When I dismantled the I61 it was soon evident that it is VERY cheaply made. Most of it appears to aluminium which is a real worry with the chance of damage to threads etc. Lots of loose metal filings and rough edges doesn't exactly instill confidence. Just waiting on an adaptor to test on my RD1.

I have good experience with adapter from Hong Kong (on my M 4-2), only $ 4,50

Fed-2 is like a country girl, pretty, healthy, and practical.😀 That is why it is attractive to me.

And you've been swapping lenses eh? Have you used the I-50 on the Zorki 6 yet? Not the fastest lens but they are damn sharp. I have 3 of them on various bodies, interestingly they were all heavily fungused, which none of my other lenses have been. Luckily it all came off with minimal damage. One of them, when stripped, turned out to have a minute flea between the groups - a long time dead!

Yeah, obviously I was. It's just that the I-50 is in bad condition. Real fungused and I've tryed several ways to clean it. It's better now, but still fungused. Not to mention, it needs relubing real bad. The aperture ring feels like it has no grease at all. The focus ring is a bit loose, but not as bad.. It was definitely kept in a dark, wet place. Though the camera itself doesn't seem to be damaged. The lens got it all.

The black I-61 is an out-of-box along with the FED 5. I've just cut the plastic wrap, and the zebra one is in an excellent condition. So I just wanted to have a FED and a Zorki calibrated to work.🙂

The rigid I-50 is quite an easy strip actually, if you want a go at cleaning it all out and re-lubing. I'll have a hunt and see if I can find the page I used when I did mine. A good tip someone on here gave me is to soak the lens elementss in white vinegar. Most fungus will then just float off and almost all will come off with gentle wiping. Keep vinegar away from the lens body though, it'll attack alloy fairly quickly. On two of my three I found that the inside face of the front element was left with coating damage (etched by the fungus) but it's not even visible when the lens is reassembled.
 
Would be great to have some little instructions, I've never done any lens reassembling before. And as for relubbing, all I have is some grease for bearings, would it do good, maybe?

And thanks for the vinegar tip, I'll definitely try it.

I still haven't found the link! Thinking back, I'm not sure if I just did it without. I'll keep looking, unless someone else knows of a page...

For lube I use silicone grease because it hardly ages at all but most people use white lithium grease, sold in cycle shops apparently.

The vinegar tip was one I picked up on here, I can't take credit for it but nor can I remember who you should be thanking!

Yup, that's the page! Lens-caps can be had off Ebay, it's the same size as the Elmar f/3.5 and Industar 22/50 collapsibles. I've bought several from a guy who trades under "tomscameras" (no connection with the seller). Either that or find a suitable sized bottle-top or such like.
 
Lithium and silicon greases are both made by American Grease Stick Company.
You should be able to get them at a car parts supplier. Both are used on brake winders and the like.
