Inherited from my uncle, just sent it to a full CLA.. it hasn't been used for the last 35 years!

That looks like it's brand new! Did you try shooting it before sending it off?

In reality it looks quite worn, it has lots of paint missing, the front ring shows brass instead of chrome.. seems a nice user camera 😀

I couldn't try it before sending it, because the aperture ring is completely stuck, and the shutter button also feels very sticky.. it really needed some attention, and I think it deserves it!

Given that it sat that long, it probably just needs a good clean and lube - that stickyness is probably just the lubricating oils dried out. You're right, it definitely deserves the attention- they're cameras that are meant to be used, and used often!

Second that ! If it looks brand new, then it IS scary to lug them around the streets ! I use my Rolleiflex seldomly only for special occasions ~ However, if I use it I mostly concentrate not breaking the camera than composing.....

The shutter button and lock aren't original either. It looks like the camera was upgraded in the early 50's. I would call it a "great user camera". 🙂

The one I posted pics of earlier is all original and has no signs of use despite being made in 1939, and I flipped out when I noticed that I somehow had scratched one of the strap lugs! It feels surreal, because cameras are meant to be used.
Even the original mirror is in great shape. They are front surface mirrors coated with a clear lacquer protection, and it use to yellow with age (exposure to UV light) and small chips use to come off. But not on this one. The only yellowing is tiny around where the mirror is touching the metal inside the camera.
The previous owner in East Germany must have thought that the camera was too precious to use, and kept it in its case in a dark closet.

I've got one these too. Mines a bit rougher than yours which looks wonderful. This first Automat model is the smallest of all subsequent Automats, Ts and A-Fs. Feels tinny in my hands. I like it's design - modest in looks. But the best thing is the Uncoated Tessar Lens. It's rendition is subtle but still with contrast - not soft at all. And it's very flare resistant. Coating is overrated.

I truly think that Rollei TLR are the most beautiful cameras..
That old Automat a sweetie. Mine is newer. Relative!
Memories of my studio cameras, The Mamiya-C series.
Made major money with those and the Rollei.
No i don't miss the Mamiya, cause i could never carry it anymore!
The lenses were great. Very sharp.Yes the Hasselblad had better,the Zeiss, but the curling load off set that..😀

Wow, that's a nice find. I'm interested to see how the photos turn out with this camera and its fine six element Xenotar. 🙂

Finally back, after two months.

Received a complete CLA and focus repair, as the previous owner seems to have dropped it.
Thankfully it could been fixed without additional parts.

My first TLR was a Ricoh Auto 66, which I bought for $29.95 at a discount store in 1968. I liked it, but it wasn't very durable or repairable.

Thanks for your coments dave Im not thinking of using it that much so hopefuly it will last me out . This one is in prety good condition but Idont think they are very colectible.
