Build-it-yourself Recesky 35mm TLR, with handmade strap
I'm so proud![]()
Awesome! - How did the assembly go? I plan on purchasing one.
Here is my just-arrived 3.5F, fresh Krikor CLA and Maxwell screen.
Speaking of the Maxwell, it is fantastic! Pretty much a 3D effect, subjects snap in and out of focus with ease. This video does not do it justice, but it's a close simulation of what you see in real life...

Thank you! The story goes that when Nikon planned their first own camera, they developed a Nikon TLR called the Nikoflex and a model for their first rangefinder, the Nikon I. As we all know, Nikon I went into production, and the Nikoflex thus got scrapped.
Some years later the Aires company bought Nikkor-lenses (and also Zuiko-lenses from Olympus!) for some of their TLR models, but it's rather rare – and they are not the same lenses planned for the Nikoflex. Unique and with good performance, it's fun to own one though.
Very nice TLR, congrats!
Thanks!

Thank you Jonathan... From your nick, I assume you are Indonesian, right? If you are, Salam Kenal.
A little word of advice, Rolleiflex is soooooo additive! You fascinated about it, you bought one, you admire it and you shoot some nice pics with it. And from one you got yourself another one. And after sometimes before you know it, you'll end up with 5 and still wanting more... :bang:

Sorry, I missed this post.
It turned out pretty easy to assemble. I had a bit of trouble with the shutter as some photos in the instructions are on the dark side. There's also some contradiction in the text and images concerning lens construction, but nothing that's not easily figured out. Mine came with a clear focus screen instead of a 'ground glass' look. I solved this by taping a bit of negative sleeve to the focus screen.
It took me a little longer then the prescribed hour, because of some improvements I made. This included adding mat paint to the inside of the 'camera obscura' area to prevent light scattering onto the film.
The film advance indicator sprocket will slip a bit, but keeping a little pressure on the door while winding helps.
And you can still get the occasional light leak from somewhere around the door or the mirror housing.
For $11 and free shipping from Hong Kong, I'm not complaining.
Here are the results from the first roll
