Show Us Your Camera!

Greetings, all, and "fancy meeting you here" to Steve, Roman and Zhang (anyone else from the RCUG here?)

My little Zorki-1 attached; not sure if it'll work as this is the first time I've uploaded a photo here...

Maybe I should a picture up of the disfunctional members of my found rangers. It's pretty scary stuff ;), but fun. With that bunch I have projects through next Christmas.

Tune in Friday...

OK... here they are... you've seen the good and the bad. Now here are the just plain ugly. In pic one are four non FSU sad sacks. At top left is an Electro 35 that doesn't respond to a fresh battery. It has no lights, no shutter speed changes, nothing. It wreeked of pot when I opened it's box from the ebay seller. It included a film holder that said "Saigon," which I thought might have contents other than film. Alas, no vintage reefer from a bygone war. The Top right Electro has a shutter stuck wide open.

The GT... suffered a meltdown. You can see what happened to it's mercury battery in the second Photo. I think one of the Electros will become an organ donor for this one. The other will be re-animated.

The minox actually works inspite of very tiny rusted screws and a broken "draw bridge" that has been temporarily/perminently repaired with gaffer's tape.

The FED 3 was one half of a 9 dollar "2fer parts" from the Ukraine. The shutter works. I am not shure about the shutter speeds though. This will become a donor for "painted lady" (all black).

I got a little carried away with the idea of uploading a picture of my FSU cameras. I ended up piling up most of my rangerfinders into one photo.

Zorki 1B with Sync in 2C body (strap lugs) Zorki 1c/2d with 20mm Vivitar M42 (need a viewfinder but just about everythin is in focus). I also like the Mir because it is one of the most reliable FSU cameras -- no slow speed shutter mechanism.

Hey Wayne! Great web site you have. It was very useful when I was shopping for my first FSU camera.

Hello Zhang and Roman. Seems to be quite a few Beststuffers discovering this forum.
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Nice to see you here. you've got some really nice cameras! Let's show off our beautiful Soviet cameras to the world. I find the Chinese photographer extremely amusing on the first message.;-)))
Here are some more to come.

This is probably as good a place for this as any. I got my wife an HP allinone (printer/scanner/copier) for her birthday and tested the scanner with this shot. It is of me at church shooting an event with my Kiev 4a with my Jupiter 11 mounted. Just thought it would be fun to share the shot from a friend (SLR but at least of an RF :) )

This is my favorite Russian camera, a black Kiev 4AM. I have a Jupiter 8, Jupiter 12, and a Helios lens, with the 12 being my favorite.

two street shooters...

Just for the fun of taking pictures with real cameras when today's time seems to be for little plastic boxes...

Somebody in the street asked me when he saw the Zorki 1b :
-Is it a new digital camera ?
I laughed a lot before tolding him, sorry no, it's a Russian camera that has 53 years now...

Marcel,
nice 35mm finder on that Kiev - what brand is this?
I just got my Voigtländer Kontur 35mm finder today, and using that will take quite a bit of adjusting (of my eyes, not of the camera)...

Roman

Yes it is a great finder !

Yes it is a great finder !

It's a Leidolf Wetzlar 35mm finder made in germany, bought it on the bay around 25 $, I was amazed I did get it for this price ! When I see how much can make a nice finder this days...
I was looking at a Kontur finder too, but it is gone now...
Ah yes, the finder : When I developped my first rolls, I saw it was a 80% finder !

..and here is my Kiev. When a longer lens is fitted and the hotshoe taken up with the viewfinder the flashgun ends up like this!

That's quite a contraption, Duncan! You have a source for flash bulbs? (Is that an M2 bulb?)

Nearlt, that's an M25B (had to double check there!)

Er, my source is basically ebay and I've got between 1000 and 2000 bulbs at the moment. I only use flashbulbs for flash as I prefer the results to electronic flash.

Best place to look is Germany (search for blitzbirnen, blitzwürfel, blitzwürfeln) and try to buy by the case. Shipping is cheap as they contain mainly air!

Let me know if you would like some to try!

Duncan
