@peepeedog - where does one get some of this special gaffer tape?

Some users say they can get residue free tape at stores like 3M, Home Fix or basically your convenience stores but i didn't manage to get any there. If you do a quick search on google you'd get things like "photographic tape" but the most common tape camera owners use is gaffer.
I got it off another user who imported the tape under a business address. It comes in 1" or 2" rolls, a whole 60 yards of it. But it IS expensive. 30 singapore dollars a roll. About 23 Aussie or 22 USD (by google's standards). But i'm sure if the distributer is in your country, you wouldn't need to import it and hence it'll be much cheaper.

Another good thing about the tape is it's made of cloth so bumps and knocks wouldn't hurt your camera much. It's pretty much stretchable and mouldable, and tears by hand.
Gaffering your camera however takes some time. Get a pen knife and some cutting board and you're ready to go. If you're bothered enough, you can cut out the holes where things should be showing i.e. the film type window, and the film counter window.

Infrequent, Heavystar has 40.5 vented metal hoods. I use one on my Hex 50. By the way we should consider an RFF Adelaide gathering. There's a few of us on here. A morning shoot somewhere followed by a couple of pale ales.

@alan davus - i am very keen on a meetup even if its just the two of us. i am away for most of may in india (cousin's marriage) but will be free on most weekends before and after. i was thinking about making a post in the forums to ask when and where others might be interested. what do you think?

@keith - i should use a hood since i don't use filters. the body itself i am not too fussed about. the mode switch is a nice gray now but the bottom is getting scratched easily and needs some protection.

infrequent, just some shots of my bottom plate and the top of the hexar.
Top - I cut out a little window to fit the film counter and battery status LED
Bottom - i cut out a tiny hole for the tripod mount as well as the battery compartment.
Now whenever i put it on any type of surface i don't wince. Crazy, i know 🙄

infrequent: The second hood looks just a bit short to keep flare in check, but should offer adequate physical protection. The first hood looks better overall.

No good...it's a collapsible hood, which in terms of physical protection has about as much integrity as a screen door aboard the Nautilus. Had a near-miss with one mounted in front of a lens on a long-gone Yashica; learned my lesson early, before buying the more expensive stuff.

is that the MOAB of all 50's -- noctilux? any focussing issues with the hexar? i only ask because folks usually say that the hexar might struggle with really fast lenses.

It is the Noctilux, received it back from service yesterday and shot a couple of frames with this combo last night. Focusing is really difficult, especially in low light but I will continue.... Also have an adapter on the way to use a 1.25 magnifier with the Hexar.... 🙂
