Hi, i've been trying out a couple of negatives so far, (Ektar most of the time) and i can never scan them without the colours looking so natural like yours, i get very weird colour hues that seem very off and can never seem to tweak them properly. i've given up and only shoot slides now which i still find it pretty hard to get the colours right but it is alot less troublesome than negatives. by the way, i'm using the epson v600 with the vuescan software. Could you please advice if you dont mind?
Thanks Mark

I'd like to know the same thing. I see several profiles for Ektar 100 (gen 1, 2, and two different versions of gen 3.) but none has worked for me. My lab always gives me amazing lifelike colors from Ektar, but the resolution is low, and I can't get the same colors at home.

I have given up on Vuescan and Silverfast for scanning color, for exactly the reasons you describe. I used the Epson software.
Now i am trying something new - I'm skipping the scanner and using my Canon 5DMkII and 100mm macro lens and photographing the individual frames on a lightbox. All I can say is WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I cna get very good color with velvia and ektachrome out of the v700 but the color neg was a pain. I turned everything off and jsut used the eposon softwear as is and get very good results wiht jsut a slight bump in LR.
tokengirl.....like that pano! I would love to try the lightbox trick but i am missing the 5DmkII. I have an old G7 but i think the effet would not quite be the same

I think the best solution for scanning Kodak Ektar is the following: To scan it using Vuescan as a 48 bit image and save it in raw file format. Within Photoshop to use CFSystems ColorPerefect (it has the exact Ektar [2008] profile. The best tutorial I found for this is the following:

With all of these great film images you guys are going to have to put-up with a digital P&S... Canon S90, stitched in CS3

Lest for me to tell people what to do, but why not just take your 5D next time and crop

Thanks for the very useful tip, i thought i was the only one struggling with Vuescan and Silverfast. I'll try the Epson software for Negatives.
Its a very interesting way to a digital camera to photograph the individual frames. i've never really thought about it before, will definitely give it a go. your photos really show the quality of the slide films.
Cheers and Thanks

Thanks for sharing this workflow and the software, it does look really easy to use and configure it without all the hassle.
