Please delete this. Always had a love for these Contaxes. Don't want to go down another rabbit hole, too beautiful.

I was only a couple years old when this camera was made but I would have bought it just for that sexy lens cap

You have an example of what is probably my favourite erly SLR camera breed - the pre Spotmatic Pentax. I used to collect these intensively and loved them. Unfortanately I do not own a black one but have several other models in chrome - all of which are brilliant to use and feel "just right" in the hand. I always think that these share something with the Leica LTM series - minus the pentaprism their form factor is quite similar.
I also love to use these with the early semi auto lenses - where you need to cock the aperture mechanism first. There is something about the physicality of having to do this that appeals to me.
Which model is it?

Simply gorgeous. Did the case come with it? I'd like to find one like this for mine.

Yeh the case is just the standard case for the S1a albeit in good condition. I can certainly see the similarities with these cameras to screw mount Leicas
Its an S1a with 55mm F2 Super-Takumar, and a Luigi strap (which I already had)
I have to admit Pentax isn't my speciality. Obviously the black ones are less common but are they 'rare' Any idea on production numbers
