Had one so I don't need to read it.
Well, you were shocked that somebody preferred the F4 over the F5, It thought I give you somebody. It however isn't Thom Hogan's opinion.....
Anyway, two cameras of which some consider one to be the best filmcamera ever made:

I just developed a couple of rolls of neopan I shot yesterday with an old K1000 Pentax with the original kit 55 f2 and a KM Pentax with a K 50 1.4.
I'll post a couple up when I've scanned them.
So nice to use a K1000 again. I bought one in 1976 as a 12yr old. I saved like crazy for it. Cost me £130 which was a lot for my milk round wages!
I picked this one up for €30 and it's a true Japanese one with the serial on top and the blanking plug on left side of top plate. Hong Kong ones didn't have this and the china ones lost the Asahi from the front. I had to take the top off and adjust the variable resistors to calibrate the meter but all looks good with these test rolls.

Here's the latest 2 SLR's I've bought. Cost the price of a curry and are fully working. I'm seriously wondering why I have all my other film gear with the quality these lenses produce.
One I took this morning taking my friend to burger king!

Hi John,
Nice pentax's you have there! I picked this MX up about a month ago, it was hidden away in a digital/plastic/modern camera shop and I just couldn't leave it there. It cost £39.00 with the lens! I don't have any results yet though, I must get cracking!
Best,
Simon

My daughter still has my bag of Pentax K-mount stuff. She shoots with an iPhone. Maybe she'd send 'em back...?

Your K1000 looks like the original 1976 MIJ version with the original 55/2 kit lens that was only ever available as part of a K1000 kit. Looks like it's in nice shape too.
I just recently sold a nearly identical set.
Yes that's exactly what it is. I looked for a while to get this one! There are gazillions of K1000's out there but the original mij with the f2 lens is getting difficult to find.

Nice find Simon. I had an MX a while back but found it just too small!!! Looks great in black. My original idea was to get a 50 1.4 and do the conversion to use on my M2 but I like using the Pentax so much I'm not going to bother.

Best 35mm camera ever made. The F6 guys will say otherwise but the F5 was the last true pro film Nikon. I'm always surprised how fast it is and how spot on the meter is in any situation. Awesome camera.
Of course that is your very personal opinion. I guess Minolta lovers will say it is the Dynax/Maxxum 9 (or 7), Canon lovers will say the Canon EOS 1v and even the pentax people will point out the MZ-S. Gee, even some Nikonians prefer the F4 over the F5![]()
F4 over F5.......![]()
Had one so I don't need to read it. I liked the F4 up until I got the F5 which made it feel very dated. It offers nothing I need above the F5 and feels slow in use.
Having used them all I base my views on my own experience and not that of Mr Hogan's or Ken Rockwell's etc etc. and obviously my needs will more than likely differ from others. Everyone has favorites and mine is the F5. It's that simple.
To be honest I don't use much film now and if I do it's whatever lens I fancy using that dictates which camera I load up.

Had an F4s for fourteen years, lovely camera. Bit heavy, but felt more like the SLR's I used for decades, compared to the newer F5's and DSLR's. Don't really miss it, but it was one hell of a camera.
Best,
-Tim
I cant personally say its the best as my camera use is quite limited but I do like it so far and I got it for a steal at 160 bucks. Took it with me on my engagement trip and it seemed to perform wonderfully. Ill have the film picked up tomorrow then I just need to scan it. Kind of worries me that I placed all my faith into a camera that I have not run a test roll through to make sure its working right for such a trip

To grain, or not to grain
I have several Nikon SLR bodies, the FE is one of the better I use because of it´s size, viewfinder and look.
The 35mm f/1.4 is a bit big, but it´s a hell of a combo.

Got a gift card for my favourite thrift store, bought me something I wouldn't have otherwise bought.
Canon T70, some solid and wide piece of plastic. Like the feel, we will se how I much I'll enjoy using it outside. The lens I got with it (body and lens for 125 SEK / 18 USD) feels like horrible cheap plastic, it's a 'Canon Zoom FD 35-70mm, f3,5.
