Show us your SLR ..... WHAT?

A co-worker brought in a bucket (seriously) full of cameras. There was an AGFA Silette Original rangefinder, Olympus-Pen EE range finder (neither worked) 2 8mm film cameras (no interest) Polaroid Land Camera 420 and a Minolta XG1 along with these two that I took home for free!

Have yet to develop a roll. From the serial numbering, mine is a Tokina made series I lens. Should be good. Yours is a Kiron made version. Differences should be minimal as they were the same design, Vivitar changed manufacturing partners very often, but designed the lenses themselves.

thanls for the kind words! I like the R9 very much.
My eyes changed, so I had to change the system from M to R.
Like both! The R is quite right to my hands and 50 2,0 is a superb lens.

Here's a size comparison between my most recent acquisition, a Pentax MZ-5 with Pentax-M 50/1.7, the OM1 with Zuiko 50/1.8, and 5D with EF 50/1.4.

The MZ-5 is about the same size as the OM1, but it's easier to hold because of the grip and the thumb indentation on the film door.

The Zuiko 50/1.8 is a little smaller than the Pentax-M 50/1.7.

The MZ-5 is lightest because of more plastics, but it still feels quite substantial.

The MZ-5 makes the best street shooter - as inconspicuous as the OM1, and it allows both AF and auto-exposure.

How is manual focusing compared to a split image rangefinder on a Nikon film camera?

I always thought the design of these cameras to be a bit odd. Then I picked one up and handled it. Wow. They as smooth as silk and every bit as nice as the aficionados say. I think it made me fall in love.

This also happens if you own a Minolta X-700, though more out of necessity.

Same with T70's when the winder gives out.
Just picked up 3 more with a bonus T50 for $25 on the bay.
1 is good, 1 is ok, 1 is toast & the T50 is good as well, but I can't figure out how to open it.

n1 p.giannakis. these are perhaps the most overlooked models in Nikon film cameras. am having 801s waiting for use (traveling currently). ignore the first gen "screw driver" autofocus, and the rest of the device is really capable and robust light tight box 🙂

As you said it - apart from louzy AF, this is a capable camera albeit a bit noisy. I just wish it provided matrix metering with older Nikon lenses like the F4 did - it would have been awesome. But i guess, for the £2 that I paid, i cannot complain...

Here's one that is new to me... my father-in-law's Canon TX. Not a special camera by any means (nor the lenses), but of sentimental value and seems to shoot just fine. 🙂

Knowing this was the world's first autofocus, auto-advance slr, how could I not rescue this piece of history for $25? It had a bad case of leakage in the battery compartment that cleaned up well with some careful chipping and a diluted vinegar bath on the battery door. To my surprise, besides a little lcd bleed, It powered up and seems to work as well as new (as well as these things ever did work, which was pretty slow)! The viewfinder is a beauty on these too.
