Lots of great SLRs here, but I'm particularly taken with the black SR-T 101. That's a beauty, Will!

Thank you sir! I had been on the lookout for one of these for several years when I stumbled upon this one one day last winter here in Sapporo. It has a fresh overhaul, and the meter is accurate with a volt regulator adapter and silver oxide battery. It is a real joy to use.

The viewfinder is a bit dim by modern standards, compared to say, a Nikon FM2. It's probably on par with a Spotmatic. I actually owned a beautiful black SPF at one point, but these SRT's are nicer. Minolta was really aiming high at this point.
This particular camera's focus screen has the micro prism center patch, but no split image. I have no problem focusing the f3.5 zoom attached here, or the f1.7 50mm I use with it.
The important thing is to make sure your eye is centered on the micro prism patch. If your eye is off center, the prisms will look a bit dark and make it more difficult to confirm critical focus.
In good light any lens will be easy to focus. In poor light use one of the f1.2 Rokkors

Oh the 58 1.2 ! I wish !
I find the Spottie a little dim, but it's pretty easy to nail focus.
Acute matte screens only came much later with the XD series, but I prefer the 60' 70's cameras look and feel.

That's the first camera I owned. Great little camera. Why can't someone make a digital camera in exactly that form??

Digital is for idiots.
And the idiots that make Digi gear aren't that idiotic as to copy something so beautiful.
Get a Spotmatic and use film, please.

I do love my ST901 and ST801, and the few lenses I have with them. What is the zoom you have there? I don't have any Fujinon zooms but the 43-75, which is OK except I always considered it a rather useless focal length. I have the 50mm f/1.4, the 50mm f/3.5 macro, the 28mm f/3.5, the 135mm f/3.5, and the 35mm f/2.8. I always wanted the 75-150, the 24mm, and the 19mm, with perhaps the 300mm. I have acquired other non-Fujinon lenses that do what I want so I doubt I will ever get them. The prices do seem to be down a bit though.

That is a very nice Spotmatic.
My first SP II was like that, a beater, but working fantastically well.
I was idiotic enough to sell it a few years later.
