Show Your "Hand-Me-Downs"!

My grandad while working for GCHQ intercepting russian radio signals was a keen photographer and ran the local camera club. I got given these beauties when i started shooting film and my grandmother found out:

This was given to him buy a camera club member as his mamiya was stolen in a car theft and came with 55, 135, 250 and 80mm lenses (80mm was dead) as well as a prism. Just ordered a Oleson focus screen for it which is on its way. Overall one of my favorite cameras and Ive shot well over 35 rolls on it. My two most used lenses are the 55 and 135 and they are excellent pieces of glass.

By far the most amazing thing I got was the canon model 7 with 50mm 0.95 and 135mm 3.5 lenses. This is a photo of me about 3 years ago with it and It remains my daily carry as well as my all mechanical backup camera for events in case i fully run out of batteries. He got this one in 1963 in hong kong and it cost nearly a year of his wages which was a huge deal as civil servants in that day werent paid all too well. I am told he could never afford the Leica but always got the best he could for what he had. I think he had great taste personally.

So theres my inherited cameras and the story behind then - I have some of his negatives from the canon 7 scanned on my gallery if anyone is interested about his photos. Sadly he passed away in 07 due to Asbestos poisoning and I have very few memories of him.

Nice cameras! A good way to remember your grandfather for sure. That 50 0.95 sure is one big hunk of glass!
