This bloke needed an obvious nose job, forgot what his problem was but father being the anesthesiologist did have a problem getting him under and keeping him under while the surgeon did his work. So Father took the images, made measurements and made a mask that did not cover the nose and mouth, it had to just cover the mouth while the nose was blocked off, this was 1963.

I am having a bit of fun sharing these images, hope I am not boring anyone too much yet.

The lady is my mother and the gentleman was an Italian Captain during the Second World War. My father was an anesthesiologist in a MASH unit in India for the last two years of the war. The allies agreed not to give the Axis powers injured troops Penicillin, it was only for our side. Well the old man liked this Captain and felt sorry that he would die, when he could so easily be saved. So the old man basically bribed and got this man his cure. When he recovered he asked how he could repay my father for saving his life, father said teach me Italian. So a life long friendship started, it turned out he was one of the Fiat family, immensely wealthy. This was taken by father at Sossi’s villa in Torino Italy, he was in charge of that plant back then. My parents went to Italy every year and would spend a week of their vacation with Sossi and his family.

The week father bought his new Super Ikonta in Stuttgart 1953. From the first roll of film, using the self timer for the first time. Pop’s is holding the wine bottle, mother is the one with the cheeky face.
I have every single negative this camera took, he documented every image with location and dates. I use it myself now as it’s a beautiful camera. I even have the receipt and the first image was of my mother with the shop owner standing outside after the purchase.

Wonderful! And the back stories...! Very special... Please keep them coming!

From 1955 in Italy, Pop saw the tramp but he also saw another image. He got my mother to flick her dress while walking up the steps, he called the image Zig Zag and won another competition with it.
You can see the tramp at the bottom right, there was terrible poverty in Italy after the war.

When I inherited the camera, I had already been living in America for 23 years, so when I brought her over here with me I soon noticed that the focus was starting to freeze up. She did not like the heat of the south, the grease was drying up. So had her serviced and also put a new skin on her because she was slippery, I went with Griptac and I love that stuff.
Anyhow this is one of mine up in Canada five years ago with her.
